Since launching the Cars for Homes national vehicle donation program in 2005, Habitat for Humanity has accepted over 100,000 vehicles for reselling or recycling, raising more than $30 million in the last 5 years alone. The program has raised funds for Habitat Charlotte Region to partner with local families to build safe, stable, and affordable homes. Our committees help our board members complete the chapter’s objectives through events, volunteering, or development. The $24 million project will be completed in four phases, with 16 Habitat townhomes planned for completion in 2025 and the remaining units 2026. This year is no different, and Charlotte is hosting 2023's Habitat for Humanity International’s Carter Work Project, building housing for 39 families at a development that was once the site of Plato Price School, which served Black families in Charlotte until 1966.
